Ted Nugent's brother, Jeffrey Nugent, brother of outspoken, ultra-conservative rocker Ted Nugent, is speaking out against recent comments his brother has made about gun rights.

Ted, who spoke earlier this month at a Houston NRA conference, vehemently decries any attempts to limit gun freedoms, such as greater background checks. Jeffrey began to get some heat because of his brother’s extremism, and so wrote an op-ed piece in the Washington Post about his support of greater background checks.

"I agree with Ted that our constitutional right to bear arms should not be undermined," wrote Jeffrey Nugent. "I want all those who are qualified to purchase a gun to be able to do so. But — and here is where I part ways with my brother — not everyone is qualified to own a gun, so expanded background checks should be a legislative priority."

Jeffrey, the former chief executive and president of Revlon, explains in his piece that he and his brother both are members of the NRA, own many guns between the two of them, and have gone hunting together for years. The difference is: Jeffrey doesn’t believe background checks infringe on his Second Amendment right, but are rather a necessary and logical precaution.

“As of today, a convicted felon can find a gun show or private seller and buy a firearm without a background check. That loophole should be closed,” Jeffrey wrote. “Every gun transaction must include a thorough background check. Why would responsible gun owners want to protect people who threaten not only our safety but our gun rights?”

Jeffrey also brings up that people must obtain a license before driving or buying a car because like guns, cars can be dangerous and have the potential to kill.

Even Americans’ most basic freedom — the First Amendment right to free speech — has reasonable restrictions on it for the overall safety of society. People cannot go around yelling “fire!” in a crowded theater, for instance, because its potential for harm outweighs the person’s right to free speech.

“The NRA has it wrong: Irresponsible gun owners are bad for everyone,” Jeffrey wrote. “If you shouldn’t have access to a gun, then there should be no way for you to access a gun! Can anyone argue with that?”

Sinbad bankrupt, Sinbad is bankrupt again... or still. The comedian filed for bankruptcy for the second time according to TMZ. On May 20 it was reported that Sinbad filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in April claiming that he has $10,991,715 in debt but only $131,000 in assets. A lot of his debt stems from credit cards but he also says that he owes the IRS over $8 million.

Sinbad says "he owes $374,979 to American Express, $32,199 to Bank of America, and $2.3 million to the CA Franchise Tax Board" (via TMZ). Sinbad says that he "only" makes $16,000 a month which is far too little to pay off his debt.

So Sinbad is bankrupt and he will likely be allowed to go about his life and keep all of his things. As TMZ points out, Sinbad has some pretty sweet toys in his possession that he probably won't be selling any time soon.

According to the report, Sinbad has a "2007 BMW 750i, a 2006 VW Beetle, a 2010 Ford F150, a 2010 Lincoln Navigator, $5,000 in home office equipment and 200 copies of 'Sinbad's Guide to Life' currently for sale on Amazon for $6.25 each."

The first time Sinbad filed for bankruptcy -- back in 2009 -- he was denied because he didn't fill out the proper forms. If he is approved this time around, his credit will be ruined for the next 10 years or so.

Eleanor Mustang sold, A 1967 Ford Mustang used during filming of 2000’s hit movie Gone in 60 Seconds has sold at auction for a staggering $1 million. This was no ordinary Mustang, however, as the car in question was none other than the famous ‘Eleanor’ Mustang driven by actor Nicholas Cage in the movie’s closing stages.

Eleven of the fictional Eleanor Mustangs were created for the movie, although only three of these were working cars, and two of these were destroyed during filming. This one was Cage’s primary ‘beauty’ car, used mostly for close ups as well as promotional efforts.

The car was sold during the Dana Mecum 26th Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis last week.
No details about the auction’s winner have been announced, though the price paid is not at all unexpected given the car’s fame as well as its pedigree.

Though not an original Shelby, the Eleanor Mustangs was based on a 1967 Mustang fastback and was built by Cinema Vehicle Services with the help of legendary coachbuilder Chip Foose. Key features of the car are its centrally-mounted driving lights, pumped fender flares, and unique hood and trunk. Power came from a 351 Ford V-8 crate engine, rated at 400 horsepower.

Other specs include a four-speed manual transmission, lowered suspension with coilovers, 17-inch wheels shod with Goodyear F1 tires and a faux nitrous kit.

Included in the sale was certification of the vehicle’s authenticity from the company responsible for building it as well as a special plaque that includes the VIN.

Note, this is the second time in five years that this particular Eleanor Mustangs has come up for sale. If you happened to miss out on the latest auction, you still can own an Eleanor Mustang, as the good people at Classic Recreations will happily build you one using a 1967 Mustang restoration shell.

Chad Johnson in custody, Former “Dancing With the Stars” celebrity and NFL player Chad Johnson is in custody Monday for violating his probation. TMZ broke the story on May 20, and they have the first picture of Johnson in handcuffs.

The arrest comes after a warrant was issued due to his failure to follow the terms of his probation tied to the domestic incident with ex-wife Evelyn Lozada.

Johnson appeared in court Monday morning in Broward County. The NFL free agent and former reality TV star is said to have violated his probation for the 2012 incident involving Lozada.

A judge agreed that Chad Johnson violated parole and ordered him arrested and jailed. He is said to have missed reporting to his probation officer twice, and he did not show proof of enrollment in a domestic violence education class.

Bail is expected to be set shortly, and then curious fans will have to wait and see what comes next for Johnson.

The warrant was issued earlier this month, so it is not a big shock that Chad Johnson is in custody after the court hearing. However, many certainly wonder why he hasn't seemed to take this more seriously.

5 Dead in bank robbery, A gunman stormed into a bank in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba Monday, killing four people in a gunfight and taking a hostage before killing himself, police said.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the shootings happened inside the bank, which was cordoned off with a large number of police. Israeli TV footage showed several ambulances parked outside. Four other people were wounded, one of them seriously.

Police said they were investigating the incident and backed off from initial claims that it had been a bungled bank robbery.

“We are not convinced entirely at this point that we are talking about a robbery or an attemptedrobbery but it could be we are talking about an incident where from the start, the murderer came in with an intention to shoot,” national police chief Yohanan Danino told reporters.

The man was identified as an Israeli in his 40s who lived in Beersheba.

The bank specialized in mortgages, and Rosenfeld said police were exploring whether the man had experienced financial difficulties or had any other personal dispute with bank workers. He saidrobbery also remained a possible motive.

Rosenfeld said a gunfight broke out and the robber took one hostage, but as a standoff developed, he killed himself. The hostage, who was lightly wounded, walked out of the bank, Rosenfeld added.

He said police looked into the possibility that there had been a second suspect, but ruled that out. He also said police believed all of the dead had been killed by the gunman.

SNL cast crisis, There’s a bit of a cast crisis over at SNL. The show is saying goodbye to several of its veteran members and will almost have to start from scratch next year.

Kristin Wiig left the show last year and Bill Hader made his exit last Saturday. The show will also soon see the departure of Seth Meyers, who will be taking over Jimmy Fallon’s seat at Late Night, Jason Sudeikis and Fred Armisen.

Sudeikis and Armisen haven’t officially left the show but there are several reports circulating that the two veterans will not return next year.

That’s a lot of gaps to fill for when the show resumes next year.

But the SNL cast crisis may not be as dire as it seems. Variety notes that SNL has dealt with major cast turnovers before and they always seem to come out of it unscathed. The massive turnover could actually turn out to be a good thing.

Variety writes: “The prospect of losing at least four prominent cast members before 2013-14 might seem dire, but students of SNL history will note that past mass cast defections tend to be like forest fires: While the damage done is seemingly devastating, it actually has a counter intuitively restorative effect, clearing the way for future growth. And what’s more, the seeds for the next generation of SNL already seem to be sprouting in the current cast.”

SNL will be losing some of its most recognizable faces soon but the cast still has some bright spots. Jay Pharoah has already taken over the Obama character from Fred Armisen and Kate McKinnon and Bobby Moynihan have already found great characters with an Ellen Degeneres impersonation and Weekend Update’s drunk uncle.

Joe Flacco the R-word, Joe Flacco's “the R-word” pledge has people talking Monday, and NBC Sports shared the details. News came out on May 20 that Flacco, along with Baltimore Ravens teammates Ed Dickson and Gino Gradkowski, signed a pledge not to use the word “retarded” anymore. As fans remember, Flacco got a lot of heat for using this word just before the Super Bowl.

The pledge comes after Joe Flacco said he thought playing the Super Bowl in New Jersey was “retarded.” He quickly corrected himself and apologized, but now it seems he's taking things a step further. Joe Flacco's “the R-word” pledge is an effort with the Maryland Special Olympics group to stop using the word in casual conversation.

The Maryland Special Olympics Twitter page shared a picture of the group holding up their signed pledges. Will Joe Flacco's “the R-word” pledge spread awareness to others and help end the use of the word that is offensive to many? Only time will tell, but having these guys on board certainly can't hurt.
